Honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.
American Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" This is the question that drives our efforts to help local high schoolers pursue degrees that might otherwise be out of reach. A postsecondary education is one of the best investments a young person can make in his or her future, but rising costs place higher education out of reach for many high school graduates. We strive to make higher education more accessible for students who show a commitment to pursuing health careers, thereby investing in the future of not only the student, but the entire community.
MLK Day of Service, which falls on the third Monday in January, is a national holiday celebrating Dr. King's life and legacy. It is observed as "a day on, not a day off," during which we are encouraged to volunteer in service of our communities. Current donors contribute up to 100% of the revenue collected at their place of business on MLK Day to the MLK Health Careers Scholarship. However, donations of any amount are greatly appreciated and will make a difference in the lives of our recipients.
